From the superhappy intro-song-to-the-Community-tv-series about suicide, Matt and Kim have now arrived at a cheerful pop sound with some cozy trap influences somehow meshed in comfortably. New Glow has got a new sound going for the duo, while still keeping in touch with their old joy. Also, who could say no to such happy bum-shaking as Kim's in their latest video?

5/10 Jack Customer review, 30th November 2015
Matt and Kim suffer the same problem that other bands of their ilk have suffered (I'm talking They Might Be Giants, Cake, Adam and the Ants, Sugar Ray, Smash Mouth, etc.) which is this: How do you keep going and still remain fresh, indie, funny and unique? Let me be frank, 2009's Grand is likely their best album. There is a fun, DIY spirit found there that is not found on any of their other albums, including New Glow. I just can't shake the feeling like this is some sort of half-assed homework assignment that they turned in to the teacher.
