Presented over four tracks as a noir fairytale, ‘Night Lines’ EP is the fourth release by Kyoto native dream pop artist Cuushe, due for release on New York/London based independent alternative record label Cascine. Using her light, mesmerizing vocals as the main instrument, Cuushe builds a haunting soundscape of the darker side of modern Japan with her lyrics while collaborator Aus creates a gritty backdrop using sounds sourced from film, animation and found samples.

Chances are you will be approaching this short and sweet EP off the back of Butterfly Case, the dreamy second LP by Cuushe. Is it as good? Possibly not, but my foot hasn't stopped tapping since my first listen and tracks like 'Daze' are slowly making small grooves in my floorboards. Cuushe occupies a chintzy part of the average shoegaze/electronic/chill-wave heart: if 'Butterfly Case' was a sweet dream you'd like to return to then Night Lines lets you close your eyes and go back there. In short: it sounds like jumping on the bed drinking cherryade, but in slow motion. And slightly blurry.
