The second release on Death of Rave by Naturkunde Mesuem Ostkreuz, 'Tropicalyptic Excursions' sees the pan-European duo create a percussive, squelchy electronic dancefloor 12" record embued with a raw rave spirit. Full of energy, hypnotic and loud, this is a suitably hyperactive sound that befits their live reputation. Be quick this edition of blue coloured vinyl runs to just 500 copies.

7/10 Staff review, 13 March 2015

Following the laidback crystalline ambient computer music of The Automatics Group, The Death of Rave shift towards the Dancefloor with the ‘Tropicalyptic Excursions’ 12” from Naturkunde Mesuem Ostkreuz. Kicking of with the stomping title track with marching snares, mucky bassline and bubbling electronics. The hypnotic repetition broken by a midway breakdown, re-emerging with that squelchy bass that recalls late 90’s Neil Landstrumm and a funky groove that recalls ESG.

‘Talkingabouttalking’ has jerky, off-kilter, kinda jackin’ rhythms that recall Chicago’s DJ Rush, Augmented by weird gurgling electronics. Meanwhile ‘Zaragoza Variations’ is built of rolling snares, tumbling kicks, metallic clattering and robotic bleeps building into a big buzzing rave climax. All decent fun on blue wax.
