Casual Sex turned out to be a much less garage-punk proposition than I expected, but what they actually are is still good. Pissing Neon / A Perfect Storm is a tightly produced pair of tracks that cram together guitar, synths, and clipped drums with the vocals of Sam Smith. 7” single on Tritone.

8/10 Clinton Staff review, 11 February 2015

If you are anything like me you’ll like a bit of Casual Sex on Valentines Day. In fact I’m so casual around the idea of sex that last time I attempted it, I fell asleep. But I’m 42 you know!.

Aaaanyway for some reason I was expecting something dirty and noisy (a bit like casual sex….so I’ve heard) from this band but this is a really nice slice of eerie guitar pop. I have no idea who to compare it to...maybe a bit of XTC….maybe The Police (!?) I don’t know something late ‘70’s/early 80’s...Joe Jackson with wiry post punk guitars. I know….Wire. It sounds like Wire. Like it a lot anyway.

Overleaf ‘Pissing Neon’ is more what I expected from the press blurb with some post punk guitars, wobbly bass and a tight garage band delivery. It’s good but the A side is better than good.
