Not quite what you might expect, this is not a club for the lonely at heart. It is part of the Singles Club, where ten artists created ten fancy singles. Here’s 4 highlights, ranging from early morning minimal house to melancholic ambient or existential meta-jungle… Whatever you want it to be. Unfortunately, no invitation to actual singles’ club included. Limited to 200 pressings!

I’m so lazy these days that I’ve chosen the record that wasn’t sealed as I simply can’t be bothered to use my energy up opening anything. Glad I did though as there are a bunch of sounds I like on this plate. They are taken from the Mystery Plays singles club which has 10 singles to its name released in summer 2014. A cursory listen to this could perhaps finding you wanting to go back and get ‘em all.
First up AM/PM deliver a lovely fluid slice of dub inflected electronica. Sun dappled and gorgeous it sits somewhere between the atmospherics of dub techno and esoteric electronicas. The ever-good Inch Time provides an atypical piece using cello scrapes and watery atmospherics. Overleaf there’s some skitter-tronics from Icarus with nods to old school early 2000’s madtronica. Finally the dreamy soundscapes of wildly talented atmosphere-builder Shoeb Ahmad with its overlaid Thom Yorke-like vocal and oddball effects provide a swoon-some coda to the collection.
