Them out of Throbbing Gristle revisit their early, post-Gristle days as Chris & Cosey. This release is a studio run-through of the live set they have been playing out for the last few years, to enormous audience reaction. That old Chris & Cosey synth-pop sound, with lashings of the more contemporary Carter Tutti approach.

The sticker on this album says it all “A Unique collection of Carter Tutti studio reworkings of classic Chris & Cosey live tracks... as you’ve never heard them before”. Can I go for an early bath now?
I’ve the utmost fondness for this pair; Throbbing Gristle are probably my favourite artists of all time and I own plenty of Chris & Cosey records and so it pains me to say it but I just can't get into this album. In many ways these updated versions do feel like where electronic pop music should be in 2015 but it’s just not resonating with me at all. And that’s not to say I think it’s bad, but on this occasion I’ll stick with the originals.
Think sweaty german fetish clubs, cybergoths etc. It goes without saying the production throughout is immaculate, groovy and irresistibly sexy. If it was anyone else I'd be inclined not to revisit the record but I'm open to be seduced by it's charms on a future occasion purely because 'Obsession' is like getting a massive juicy electronic smacker on the lips.
