The music from Guardians of the Galaxy takes the distant future back to the golden past, with tunes from the '70s playing as part of the film's very own narrative -- each song included on the soundtrack exists on a supposed mixtape Peter Quill, our smiley protagonist, was compiled by his mother. The future is 1970.

9/10 Jack Customer review, 12th February 2015
Concerning Guardian of the Galaxy: I loved the casting, the directing, but wow the soundtrack might just be the best part about this film. These songs have an actual presence throughout this film, most these songs are played on Peter Quill aka Star-Lord's Sony Walkman that his mother gave him and it's literally his last connection to the life he had on Earth. I definitely recommend buying it especially after you've seen the film, it adds a whole new layer of emotions when you listen to these songs afterwards. The best part is that these are all old 1970s songs you know and probably already love.
