A pulse-racer with four tracks across two sides, Mutant City Acid is a fine introduction to the Balkan Vinyl label. With 303’s galore it’s packed with analogue acid, with Mark Archer and Ben Pest flexing their funky bones, whilst the slow techno of Posthuman and uptempo sampling of Chevron provide a varied finish to the flip side. Out on 12” vinyl from Balkan Vinyl.

There are 303 copies of this. Legitimacy proven - you don’t have to read on.
But if you decide to, you can read all about how this record has bouncy haunted house beats amidst shuffly stutter techno from some Balkan Vinyl top dogs. You’ll discover, before even hearing it, that the record kind of has that NYC sound but with Ceephax edges and wacky bendy basslines. The review will tantalise and inform with scintillating nuggets of knowledge such as das vokals join in der 2nd track giving it a proper dirty Berlin vibe and that it’s not all hard ‘n’ fast when Posthuman turns up on B1 for a slow sexy groove, never escaping the 303. Finally it’ll reassure you that even the dusty corners of B2 contain a big tune featuring late 80s broken beats and start-stop synth/vox - proof that this’ll destroy dancefloors.
Well, the review just did all that.
