D.D Dumbo releases his debut vinyl 12” for 4AD. ‘Tropical Oceans’ blends a pan-global blues stomp with subtle shoegaze inflections and surreal lyrics. On the second side the Australian troubadour changes Roy Orbison’s Crying into a weird little outside pop dirge. A very limited 12” of desert-fried songwriting.

8/10 Jacob Customer review, 7th January 2015

I stumbled upon D. D. Dumbo when Daughter announced he would support them for a show. I was instantly impressed by his looping one-man show, and this E.P is just a glimpse of what he is capable of.

Very good may be too generous for this first release, it's a trial of what he has, not a solid coherent EP like more stable artists would produce. Yet this rising star from down under has serious talent, and is definitely on my one-to-watch. An Impressive EP, good blues feel. Worth taking the dive, you won't regret it.
