Created in collaboration with one of their all-time favourite heroes, Billy Childish, ‘Pea Green Coat’ is the first single from the Wave Pictures’ new album Great Big Flamingo Burning Moon. Following on from their last collaborative project with Stanley Binks, Childish creates a riff-heavy, garage-rock spark here, accompanying Dave Tattersall’s searing guitar solos and usual acerbic wit.

pea green coat flies out of the blocks with all the raw grace and panache that we have come to expect from the wave pictures. another bitter sweet tale of love, life, and fashion keeps us all on our toes at an almost danceable tempo.
what seem at first to be over simplistic lyrics hide a wittily penned tale with a twist at the death, delivered at the rockier end of the wave pictures spectrum. all this and more, topped with another achingly effortless guitar solo to complete the frame, again almost too simple, but as any fan will tell you, we know its all the in the delivery when you're a wave picture, and to say the delivery is excellent does not do this band justice at all.
