For no real reason the Velvet Underground reformed, despite what we thought was a salty relationship between Lou Reed and John Cale. The result of an unexpected live performance at a Warhol exhibition in 1993, saw Reed approach his label about a proper live release. The Velvet Underground: LIVE MCMXCIII (1993) was a great success, even without Nico (who passed in 1988) these performances of the Velvet classics are so pleasing to be heard coming from a much older Reed, who sings them with as much passion as the recordings.
