Why have stuff when you can just have loads of space? Bre'r is soothing your worries with his new tape A.R.M. Luscious landscapes are depicted by gentle guitar wonderings in a most enjoyable manner. If Bre'r isn't a fan of NYC genius Moondog then I will eat my hat. This cassette tape is out on BARO.
7/10 Clinton Staff review, 10 December 2014
More interesting stuff on Chicago based tape label Baro, this time from Bre’r who trade in murky, swollen guitar evocations which churn slowly around. The comparison that springs to mind most immediately is the Japanese guitar manipulator Hakobune. Shoegazing guitar swells are utilised to create big billowing soundscapes. You have to be patient -- it moves slow. The second track shows flickers of Durutti Column guitar sparkle but this is kept to a minimum under the dark ominous clouds. Scary but soothing.
