9/10 Andrew Customer review, 11th June 2015

I'm bloody loving this album, I bought it from the good folk here a few months back and it has featured on my turntable pretty regularly since then, now I see its still lacking a review I thought I should step in. This is an incredible collection of psychedelic crew Syd Arthurs tracks reworked and given even more acid by Amorphous Androgynous. They have turned in a 7 track trip of a record, by turns blistering, melancholic, wistful, optimistic, sun drenched and just a damn fine listen. Taking 5 tracks and given each a re-interpretation (2 getting a pair of makeovers) this is 45 minutes of phasers set to cosmic bliss.

Its hard to pick stand outs, each track taken individually has enough twist and turns to make epic sound an understatement, but I think the album really needs to be taken as a whole. There is fuzzed out guitar, washes of synths, delicate then thunderous drums, vocals drifting in and out creating a complete headtrip over its run time. This really does show how good this new wave of prog can be, it us also a mystery to me why this is not getting attention from fans of the likes of Jagwar Ma. The biggest thing though is the image of Jim Bowen grimly informing a forlorn looking Noel Gallagher 'Take a look at what you could have won'. Amorphous Androgynous really could have been Bully's star prize for Noel if he genuinely wanted to make a great album. Still, his loss Syd Arthurs gain. I just hope they get the rewards such a superb album deserves.
