The press release uses the word ‘drown’ to describe how you may lose yourself in the two lengthy pieces Marsen Jules (in real life German composer Martin Juhls) worked on at a two week residency in the legendary GRM-Studios at Radio France in Paris. It serves as a perfect analogy as to the deepness of the work, you literally feel engulfed in the sounds as you delve deeper into the record.

The opening ‘Part 1’ is made up of huge washes of sound, each monolithic slab ebbing slowly into the ether, the sound difting of interminably. It must take enormous patience to make music like this, the listener is left transfixed by the wait between each slice of sound and the subtle varients between them.  ‘Part 2’ delves from a slightly different sound pallette, a foggy drone resides over the whole piece as highher shards of vapourous sound drift in and out. This is superb ambient music, deeply relaxing, a bit chilling but achieves its supposed goal by taking you far off into another world. Tremendous.
