New double LP vinyl and CD from Archive. Restriction is a series of angsty and moody electronic-meets-acoustic-croon tracks. Not quite trip-hop, but not quite straight pop either, this album is being released on their own label Dangervisit. Expensive but rather meandering, you're never quite sure where they're going to go next.

If this is your first Archive album just approach it with an open mind and preferably a quiet place with which to listen in. Archive's use dynamics as an actual composition tool is great. Their music is mixed in such a way that you feel the need to turn it up just so that you can hear every tiny detail. Then the song will gradually grow over time to the point that you realise you are actually listening louder than you should be and intended to in the first place! All this is done intentionally so that the loud parts actually FEEL overwhelming and the more subdued parts feel intimate.
