American Thighs by Veruca Salt

Back when indie rock meant "things that were released in the '90s", Veruca Salt fit the bill pretty well, making fuzzy, out of focus grunge and replacing Pavement in music videos on a whim. 'American Thighs' was their debut, originally released twenty years ago now, and Minty Fresh celebrate with a birthday cake and/or reissue of the record, depending on which is easier for us to ship.

9/10 Penrith Steve 29th October 2014

This is an absolute classic from the pop end of grunge. By 1994, grunge was dead, but Veruca Salt revived a poppier version for their “American Thighs” LP with fantastic results. The female-lead four-piece from Chicago have created an essential slice of North American nineties-ness. There are classic songs on here such as “Seether” and “Number One Blind”. They released a further three albums but none of them had whatever it was that made this one great. Great songs, I guess.
