I'd already listened to this Extreme Precautions LP all the way through before I realised I was playing it at the wrong speed, and probably wouldn't have noticed at all were it not for a little speech sample giving the game away, since it seemed quite fast enough (hyperactive, even) at 33rpm. I'm listening to it at 45 now and it's positively ferocious. Extreme Precautions is Paul Regimbeau, who is also Mondkopf, but here as Extreme Precautions he's taken his dirty techno sound and put it through a blastbeat blender, fusing in elements of grindcore and gabber in a filthy and relentless explosion of haywire acid synths, broken industrial drones and brutally distorted beats.
He's not made my job any easier as a reviewer by not providing any track titles, I guess the tracks don't have titles. The artwork looks great but is very cryptic, with even the artist's name only appearing on the spine. It sounds great though, like Ceephax and Iron Pirate and Jason Forrest all drank too much coffee and got into a fight. Lots of dirty distorted synth tones and ridiculously aggressive beats but also a cheeky tunefulness that gleams through the gritty and aggressive textures in a restlessly infectious wiggle. Bonkers adrenalised distorto-electronics action.
