Another superb release from Analog Africa, this time from Verckys et L'Orchestre Veve. Congolese Funk, Afrobeat and Psychedelic Rumba 1969 - 1978 is a great insight into central African grooves, mixing Congolese roots music with the emergent influence of James Brown, Jimi Hendrix and Fela Kuti. Out on Double LP vinyl - don't sleep on it!
9/10 SAMMY Customer review, 4th January 2015
Yet another unearthed vintage beauty from Analog Africa -- this time funky '70s treats from the Congo. To be honest the album title is a review in itself with the words AFROBEAT, FUNK, PSYCHEDELIA and RUMBA all over it. And if you haven't been sold by the descriptive, genre-shagging title then the cover features the coolest looking guitarist ever. Master Vercky himself -- the frantic guitarist behind these 1970s funk masterpieces. There is literally no reason not to like these guitar licks, jazzy riffs and metronomic rhythms. A glorious nugget waiting to be unearthed by YOU.
