Ennino Morricone was behind the score for this 1977 drama about a prefect living around the time of Italy's fascist government. As always, Morricone aims to delve into the complexities of the film's emotive qualities, making a melancholic soundtrack that occasionally achieves a harsher, more dramatic feel. He also had to learn a thing or two about the folk music of Sicily to produce the song “La Ballata del Prefetto Mori”.
