The prolific, ever metamorphosing Willie Burns returns for sub-label Second Circle, joined by low-key producer Jordan GCZ for this three track 12" that plays to their talents in crafting floaty and ethereal ambience to go along with their pounding rhythms. At this point, Burns is making textures in his sleep, and 'Crotocosm' is the proof.

This guy William T. Burnett seemingly featured in my life almost every day over the last week. On Sunday I DJ'd out with an ancient 12" by Grackle, then on Tuesday, Ian, the camp office innuendo aficionado stood there cackling (not grackling) about "Willie Burns" for what seemed like an eternity until the fizzy pop truck thankfully peeped it's noisy horn outside (ooh err). Now the restless American bugger crops up on this amazing 12" by Crotocosm, with his pal Jordan Czamanski.
There's not a great deal to say about these tracks other than they are all superb examples of spacious dynamic cosmic techno, and I mean seriously cosmic....really thrilling stuff here on 'Fanatic 1' with synths resembling brittle decaying imploding stars over a wonderfully restrained monotonous yet emotive midrange pulse and a skittering martial drum pattern. 'Fanatic 2' has a muffled, bleary fevered beat and some truly affecting astral synth melodies, a classic bloopy ascending midrange motif....it's possibly one of the year's best techno tunes in as much that's it's dreamy, celebratory and very pure. Fans of prime DJ Rolando, Two Lone Swordsmen, Jacques Greene and Wighnomy Bros should dig this. Total blinder in every way. The untitled track is like a further-out reprise of the A side. I am so bagging this.
