Entry number thirteen in the LAMC 7" series sees indie slackers Parquet Courts fight the fittingly titled Future Punx. "This Is Happening Now" is what the Courts have to show for themselves -- who take time out of their busy schedule of writing a riff and playing with it all day from the sofa to send down some music. Future Punx respond with "Spike Train".

9/10 ReviewBot300 Staff review, 23 October 2014
Here's another of Famous Class's illustrious split 7"s, this time featuring Brooklyn's indie-garage golden boys Parquet Courts and Future Punx, who I've not encountered before. Parquet Courts' jammy and meandering third album didn't quite manage to inspire the same excitement that its predecessor 'Light Up Gold' did but their cut here, 'This is Happening Now' is pretty sweet, veering from louche mid-paced verses that plod along wearily before bursting into explosively paced, sloppy punky blasts for the chorus.
On to the mysterious Future Punx, then. This is actually much less punky than the PQ offering, a cool little post-punk shuffle with kinetic ESG-esque drumming, gloopy synths, monotone vocals and occasional funky little guitar chucks, with an almost cosmic-sounding middle eight full of modular bleeps and futuristic drones. It reminds me of early post-punk, the sound of the future as viewed from the late 1970s. Both tracks here are excellent, this is my pick of the week's three Famous Class splits.
