- Aer by Giulio Aldinucci
Our latest CD from the good people at Dronarivm is this meditative selection of soundscapes by Giulio Aldinucci, who also records under the alias Obsil. On 'Aer' he "focuses on the ability of different sounds to communicate and become music" using field recordings and software and analogue hardware generated ambient. What that means for you is seven distinct drones, each mixing a fog of eerie ambience and layers of more tangible texture for a detailed, slow moving and meditative listen.
'Intermittent Musical Box' opens proceedings with chopped up electronic tones and what sounds like intermittent vinyl crackle with occasional shuffling footsteps on wood boards sounding like they're in a small enclosed space, before we start getting immersed in more organic tones for 'Lampara', with orchestral-sounding swells accompanying some strange pig-snuffling sounds and heavy-booted feet striding across open earth. 'Sleep With Noise' has some dreamlike haze-drone action and this time you're walking across a walled concrete yard, 'Filo Di Voce' has a luxurious hissing deep-space sort of feel populated by strange echoed whispers. You get the idea...delicately balanced organic textures suspended in weightless sheets of drone.
