Kieran Heben, known colloquially as Mr. Tet, serves up another 12" release on his TEXT imprint. This time around, he takes a sparkly underworld tune from John Beltran, "Faux". On the flip, it gets the Four Tet remix treatment, which is a colourful take on the tune's blank surface. Dream on, friends: his remix goes for over seven minutes.

Another slice of that deep techy house rolls off what seems to be the relentless production line that is Kieron Hebden's Text imprint. I have long since abandoned my usual collector impulse to buy everything. Output exceeding both pocket and interest if I'm honest. That's not to say you don't get gems anymore, but I think I preferred the quality over quantity period when tracks like Pinnacles would drop and blow you away.
So to the latest installment of Four Tet's quest to take over your wages.... well I was into, but not overly gripped by the A side, kind of drifted by pleasantly which possibly wasn't what Beltran was aiming for. On the flip senior Tet has a go at injecting a little more and again all is fine and dandy, a nice deep groove, the harpish overtones twisted into the track are all lovely. Its either a 4am heads down on a deep minimal dancefloor, or one for the headphones. But, I just can't see myself grabbing it from the racks a lot to play at home. I think with some incredible tracks being put out simultaneously, not least the unashamedly populist, but dancefloor destroying 'Our Love' by Caribou, this feels a little dry. It will sell out as all TEXT do I imagine, but not sure if I'll buy this one.
