‘Keep Your Darkness’ is a brand new, limited edition 7” from Glasgow’s barmy indie poppers Bis, featuring a trademark raucous cover of Susan Fassbender’s ‘Twilight Cafe’, a relatively unknown figure that Bis apparently have a lot of love for. The single is a precursor to the forthcoming ‘The Anthology – 20 Years of Antiseptic Poetry”. Expect to hear the usual bis influences: early Human League played by Adam And The Ants, and a signature triple-headed vocal squall from singer Manda Rin.

When Bis signed a 5 album deal with Grand Royal back in the day, I said to no-one in particular that I'd be surprised if they saw that out. I was sort of right, they were a thing for the times and one that wasn't meant to age or grow old gracefully. Here they are, however, in 2014 with a brand new single. Is this old or new stuff? New, I think. Is that a new or old photograph on the sleeve? Old, I think. They can't have not aged at all.
Anyway against all odds 'Keep Your Darkness' is great! It sounds a bit like 'Antmusic' era Adam and the Ants, even down to the hollered backing vocals. It has a great catchy chorus and a Glitter Band stomp. Overleaf, they cover 'Twilight Cafe' by Susan Fassbender. You'll know it. Even I know it. It's fun.
