A Bird in the Engine by Pip Proud

Pip Proud was kinda Australia's answer to Syd Barrett. He made two of the most bizzare records ever to come out of Australia and then promptly disappeared for three decades. 'A Bird in the Engine' is his second album and has been even more hard to find than his debut. This is the first time it has been re-issued in its original format and when you listen to it, its hard to believe this was recorded BEFORE Barrett's 'The Madcap Laughs', Proud was doing this in total isolation yet its remarkably similar. Ramshackle oddball lo-fi pop for fans of Donavan, Daniel Johnston and of course Syd Barrett.
