Two up and coming sampley electronica types team up on this here 12". The one with the big beard is Suren "My Panda Shall Fly" Seneviratne, whose recent 'Tropical' EP impressed me greatly, and rocking the small beard we've got Gareth "Mau'lin" Sprey, whose music I've not heard yet. The two have been friends for some time but here they put their heads together for the first time.

The results are excellent. Stumbling minimal house beats bolstered by a thudding techno pulse thud ominously through dense layers of wavering drones, bleeping synths and earthy loops from a variety of sources. Opener 'Sea Beast' is a big shimmering wall of wistful drones before 'Red' throws us into a blurry acid-house-inspired shuffle with dinky 808 bloops, danceable beats and indistinct synth washes and 'Gingerbread House' closes the house in slightly trip-hoppy style with womby bass tones, bleepy synth loops and an eerie shuffle'n'scrape beat.

Over on side B things slow down for some digi-dubbified electro-minimal twitchiness in 'I' before Lakker remix a track that's not on the 12" but is on the download, '15 Keys'. It's all computer squelches, crispy beats, strange amelodic tinkles and an awkward stop-start bassline, accompanied by long gliding synth drones high in the mix, slowly and subtly building up an ominous head of steam. Cool EP.
