"Where You Gonna Go?" comes off producer and beatmaker Paul White's record 'Shaker Notes', but stands on its own as a gorgeous slice of music, made out of acoustic percussion, gorgeously raw melodies and crystal-clear vocal harmonies (with help from Jamie Woon!) that echo outward endlessly. On this 12", it's given a remix from fellow producer Andres, who gives it a little bit of his own house flair. There's also another track from White himself, "Peace It Together".

- Where You Gonna Go by Paul White
8/10 Andrew 17th October 2014
I was pretty intrigued about Paul White's shift to R & S, his beat making seemed to have been developing nicely along quite organic lines. Whilst R & S is a more varied beast these days than in its original techno incarnation, you wondered how this would fit? That said artists such as Bullion have had success releasing pretty experimental material on this label.
So Where you Gonna Go. Its a nicely shuffling groove, full of gentle percussion that keeps things moving along, the title refrain repeated over the top gradually building a slight sense of momentum. Its a builder of a track that never really gets there, but would be a mighty effective tool in the hands of the right DJ to tease a crowd. The andres mix on the flip is lovely, a remake that ups the deep house and settles into a groove that locks you in. Promising stuff that demonstrates Paul Whites talent and also desire not to be pigeon holed as a hip hop beatmaker. The LP should be well worth a listen.
