'Be Slowly' is the debut album from Birmingham-based indie/dream pop band Jaws. Taking their primary influences from early 90s shoegazers, the band swim in a sea of swirling fuzz, suppressed vocals and subtle melodies that nod towards Ride but also to acts like the Stone Roses. Jaws are devotional to guitar music at large, whether it's got a slacker vibe to it or barely decipherable amidst all the surface noise.

8/10 Ian Staff review, 11 September 2014

Here’s a lovely bunch of lads from the West Midlands that are currently making waves on the revived shoegaze scene. Jaws are a group of friends who met at Halesowen College and I managed to catch them at Bestival last year, they put on a damn good show I can tell you, with a classic shoegaze sound from the likes of Ride, Chapterhouse and Adorable topped off with a pop sensibility and a modern Indie coolness. There’s a real simplicity to their sound that veers away from all the MBV style noise that a lot of nu-gaze artists seem to adopt, ‘Be Slowly’ is chock full of pop hooks and Indie sheen that often gets lost in all the uber experimental stuff these days.

Stand out tracks are the wonderfully bouncy jangle of ‘Be Slowly’ and the singles ‘Gold’ (once featured on an episode of Hollyoaks but we’ll keep quiet about that one eh lads?) and ‘Think Too Much, Feel Too Little’, this is a great catchy indie-pop album full of joy and youth that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

10/10 mecca Customer review, 26th February 2015

Honestly, JAWS may just be the greatest band of the modern era. They beautifully display what the shoegaze genre should embody. All of the songs truly speak to me and make me feel every emotion, besides anger, disgust, anything negative!! I highly recommend this album if you are into this mellow-hush sound. When I first heard the album I didn't really like 'Time', 'Home', and 'Swim' but, honestly, after you truly listen to the vinyl and lay back and let the music seduce you, one realises how great JAWS is... not to mention how cute Connor is.
