They're not the easiest people to track down, are Lost Tapes -- their name isn't very Google friendly and their music is whispery, anonymous and drenched in all things shoegaze. But it turns out Lost Tapes are a duo from Spain who meld together synth pop with guitar distortion and shoegaze, hoping that what they'll get on the other side of the process is a lovely, melancholic pop song. The two tracks on this self-titled 7" certainly deliever, taking the listener through a journey of guitar noodling, endless feedback and downbeat vocal confession.

- Lost Tapes by Lost Tapes
A brilliant little seven from the always great Beko label, this is Spanish shoegazers Lost Tapes and only their second single so far, the other being an EP called poetry dates on the Cloudberry label. The A-side is a super little janglepop number called ‘Rubber Bracelet’ that recalls shoegaze legends like Chapterhouse and Ride, flip it over and you get a more melancholic number titled ‘Blame It On Rio’, this has the great classic “aaaaaahhh aaaahh” style backing vocals that Ride’s Mark Gardener did so well. An altogether splendid nod to those great days of bowl haircuts and chiming Rickenbacker guitars.
