This is a short and sweet collection of some of Thelonius Monk's most iconic and most well-known compositions, under forty minutes in length but bringing together tracks like "Abide With Me" and "Off Minor". 'Monk's Music' is part of Monk's time on Riverside Records and features a roster of excellent musicians making up his septet, including Ray Copeland on trumpet and John Coltrane himself playing tenor; listen closely on "Well, You Needn't" and you'll hear Monk handing over some instructions to Coltrane. A quick in-and-out jazz standard, this one.

Such a great album by Monk.

Mind boggling piano run after run.

Displays great prowess in the bop style with this LP including examples of hard bopping beats and slower bluesier piano by Monk.

Not much introduction is needed on Monk fundamentally this LP has Monk in his prime with continuous musical ideas barraging you.

The songs flow effortlessly into each and such easy listening yet at the same time it is highly stimulating so many times Monks classic moves come into play moving you through mood after mood and rhythm after rhythm with his piano wizardry.

A true Bop Art Tatum on the ivories.
