Here are The Flies. This is obviously not the 1960's Flies who did a song about Alexander Graham Bell but a Flies from Bristol who contain members of The Insects, Lupine Howl and Spiritualized,. The NME says they sound “Like The Velvets on a David Lynch set. This is a 7" in preparation for a new album.

Here are The Flies. This is obviously not the 1960's Flies who did a song about Alexander Graham Bell but a Flies from Bristol who contain members of The Insects, Lupine Howl and Spiritualized. I'm listening to this single this very second and its hard to describe what they have been listening to but its quite impressive. It is a slow burner with a kind of eastern flavour. I'm reminded a bit of some of Billy Mackenzie's later solo stuff. Kind of torchy cinematic pop music with a few touches of John Barry here and there. As they are from Bristol I'll bring in the obligatory Portishead reference and the NME weren't far off when they said they sounded “Like The Velvets on a David Lynch set".
