KPM, those green sleeves that make a diggers heart beat faster and can make their wallet that much lighter. You come across these every now & then, often to flip the sleeve over to find its an okish orchestral mood LP. This is the KPM you are looking for. Beats, grooves and the odd delicious flavour of 'abroad' as it may have felt at the time of production.
Volume 2 is Alan Moorhouse, perhaps slightly lesser known than Hawkshaw and Mansfield but no less worth getting to know. From the off you know this is a treat. 'That's Nice' kicks off with a bit of moody organ, however this isn't all key work. There is strong guitar work throughout this album 'West Coastin' 'Pop Pastime' and 'Boss Man' blend the teo very nicely. Drums feature of course, for those looking for the perfect beat, 'Soul Skimmer' getting the party going.
'Heavy Bopper' keeps up the dancefloor pressure, with chance to catch a breath on 'Angelic Gas' acoustic guitar. What of that sound from 'abroad'; 'Expo In Tokyo', 'Nashville Country' and 'Hillbilly Child' take you from the Far East to Southern USA without missing a beat. Throw in a nod to Rock'n'Roll on erm... 'Rockin' Boogie' and you are all set for the wig out that is 'Psychodale'.
This is a reissue well worth the effort, a bargain, no need to get dusty fingers. Buy it.
