Coming in from Sounds Familyre the label run by Daniel Smith from off kilter oddballs Danielson Famile you might this it would be some folky pastoral weirdness but no, its nothing of the sort. Its a spiky and angular post punk affair full of pummelling rhythms, bulldozer like riffs and lo-fi distorted vocal scrawls. Ands thats just the first track ‘Eternal Hair’ which, if nothing else blows away the cobwebs.

‘Teenage Baboons’ is standard mid-fi punk pop -it pulls no trees up. ‘Soviets’ is a slog of slowly descending garagey guitars, Nirvana drum beats and Jack White style raucous bluesy rifferama.  The continually distorted vocals highly compressed sound starts to grate by the final track ‘9 Eyed Lion’ which has something of the sludgy riffs of ‘Propeller’ era Guided By Voices but despite a good start this four track one sided EP reveals itself as not too much more than standard rock with some fancy production to pull it kicking and screaming out of mundanity.
