Nozinja, for those who aren't aware, is the man credited for the genesis of South Africa's unique dance craze Shangaan Electro, which was unleashed onto an unsuspecting world via an Honest Jon's compilation way back in 2010. Since then he's had a couple of 12"s out on Dan "Caribou" Snaith's Jiaolong and now here's one on Warp.

There are two quite different versions of 'Tsekeleke' on this 12". Side A's version has dub-echoed pitched-up vocals alongside bright squelchy synths and nimble electronic beats while the "vocal mix" on the flip takes a very different tack, with more (unprocessed this time) doing some lovely call and response harmonies while the harsh futuristic synth is replaced by an Afrobeat-ish wah guitar. The version on the A side has more of a hard-hitting dancefloor-ready sheen to it but I think I'm more into the easygoing vibes of the alternate take. Both totally danceable and fun.
