Disco Documentary – Full Of Funk by Nana Love

This is purportedly one of the most mysterious Afro-Disco records produced in the 1970's. Its been unearthed by the BBE folks and forms the third instalment of their “Masters We Love” series. When the original album master tapes were found, unreleased material was discovered at the same time making this a bumper extended package. The music is perfectly poised between disco, boogie, soul and funk and is jam-packed with funky bass and top notch drum breaks and Nana wails like a banshee!

This is a goodie, I'd never heard of this until it appeared on the radar thanks to BBE Records reissue series. Kicking off with the epic I'm In Love you know you are onto a good thing. 12 minutes of funky disco with sweet vocals. To be honest you'd pay 12 quid for this on a 12" and be pleased with yourself for making such a wise investment. But...Woohoo! You get a further 9 tracks over the remainder of the 2 disc set. And if that isn't enough you get them all over again on cd. Bargain.

Tracks liks We Gonna Stay for the Party and Disco Lover tell you all you need to know. This is bumping funky disco, this isnt the polished shiny sound of late era New York disco, this is proper gritty real music. There is soul, touches of reggae too as well as the funk and disco. You really cant go wrong with this. A lovely repackaging of more hidden gems from the African continent.
