Here's one for the Rune Grammofon fans - although it's not actually on that label but Susanna's own SusannaSonata imprint, it's a collaboration between two unique Norwegian singer-songwriters who've put out their best-known work on that label, Susanna and Jenny Hval, and was mixed and mastered by mysterious micronoise genius Helge "Deathprod" Sten. Recorded in 2009, 'Meshes of Voice' actually predates any of Hval's solo records, with which she has made quite a name for herself, although she did already have a couple of albums out as Rockettothesky at this point.

The pair performed the pieces on this CD twice, with the second performance at Henie Onstad Arts Centre in Hovikodden, Norway, being recorded and ultimately becoming this CD. The recording quality really is excellent, though, and it doesn't have the feel of a "live album" at all. It's quite a grand and ambitious song cycle which mixes gorgeous soulful Julia Holter-ish sentimentality full of subtle harmony and counterpoint with much noisier, more hallucinatory material which introduces trance-like drones and, in the case of numbers like 'I Have Walked This Body' and 'I Have A Darkness', huge swathes of earth-rumbling distortion and feedback which slowly engulf their otherworldly warblings. Excellent stuff, as you would expect from this pair, with a nice balance between noisy experimentalism and lush dreaminess. The main surprise is how long this has taken to get a physical release.

10/10 Pseudo Humanus Customer review, 28th November 2014

The songs are all complex, mystifying tales that entice you to replay the album on a loop! I have been listening to this album for about two weeks and I am in LOVE with it!! My personal favourites are O Sun O Medusa and A Mirror in My Mouth. What an amazing album by two musically perfect artists....
