Arnocorps' modestly-titled 2005 opus 'The Greatest Band of All Time' has finally made it onto vinyl thanks to Alternative Tentacles. This lot have been going strong for 14 years now and are one of several novelty Bay Area thrash/skatepunk bands to mix goofball concept comedy with genuine chops, the most notable contemporaries being Gwar and Ghoul.

Arnocorps' schtick is to celebrate the Herculean myth that is Austrian man-mountain and governator Arnold Schwarzenegger through a series of tight and fast thrash which ranges from Iron Maiden/Thin Lizzy-inspired guitar licks to early Sick Of It All-style beatdown hardcore, replete with comedy Austrian accents and movie quotes galore. 'Total Recall' is a hardcore-stomping highlight, keeping things simple and fast with Dead Kennedys-esque guitars and a fists-in-the-air 'Get Your Ass To Mars' chorus.

It's pretty silly but ultimately a lot of fun, a great novelty to pull out on a drunken night in with your friends. Musically it's tightly delivered but nothing groundbreaking, similar to bands from around the same time like The Plight or Gallows, but taken with tongue firmly in cheek as intended these heroic Arno-anthems will put a smile on the face of the most stony-faced cynic.
