Effortless cool from Caribou. Can't Do Without You is the single side of dance floor magic from the production wiz. Awash with a soulful looped vocal line that modulates and gets manipulated, aided by delicious synths, and a straight funking drum groove that take you to the next level. Out on 12" vinyl from Jiaolong.

8/10 Andrew Customer review, 21st December 2014

Bloody brilliant track from Caribou, who along with Four Tet seem to be on a mission to show that skinny white folky electronica types really know how to smash a dancefloor. In fact with Caribou, it is that background in sensitive electronica that elevates his house music with the emotional content that gives it an edge over the sometimes too smooth sound of some of the deep house genre.

Can't do without you really grabs you with both the repeated vocal line and its catchy musical hooks. Building intensity it always seems to feel sudden when it ends, I often feel I'd like it to have been extended by a couple of minutes. That said you can't be critical if a track just because you don't want it to end. A 9/10 track, but I'm knocking a point off the score for the package as I just have a bit of an issue with single side 12" releases. Its not cheap to buy records and I think that it wouldn't have killed Mr Snaith to have stuck a remix, a dub or even a bonus track on the flip. Let's face it, many would be buying this, then the album too, so giving us a little something to make it worth having in its own right would have been a decent gesture.
