8/10 Mike Staff review, 17 July 2014
Stephen Vitiello and Taylor Deupree, together at last! Here they are stretched over four 10" sides of captivating meditations full of drones, twinkles and field recordings. The first disc here contains a single piece, 'From The Fish House' parts 1 and 2. Its name is more literal than you may expect - this was recorded at a place called the "Fish House" which stands on stilts over a lake and can be seen on the front cover of the record, with mics placed both inside and outside the performance space ensuring that the local osprey, pelicans and water are incorporated into the gently lapping ambience.   The pair work quite intuitively together, making a sound that's concordant and casual, and yet thoughtful and ethereal in a strangely intense way that commands the attention. Some of the sounds happening here have obvious sources like guitars and electronic pure-tones but other times the sound source is lost in a fog of wavering decay and smudgy reverb and rustling static. Peace drones from a spectral plane. Disc 2 has 'From The Main Studio' (you'll never guess where they recorded this but I'll give you a clue: not the Fish House), before side D's spooky Budd tinkles and backwards tape weirdness of 'Last Piano (For RR)'. Peaceful stuff.
