I've got an intriguing tape here of musique concrete adorned with subtle drones and twinkles by Lost Wax, also known as Ben Morris out of Chora. The audio presented here was recorded in such far-flung places as London, Derbyshire, Croatia, Bilboa and Beijing - "dictaphonic travelogue" says the press release. The sounds come thick and fast, there's birdsong, children laughing, the clamour and clatter of a busy street, the earth crackle of a roaring fire, snatches of field recorded street musicians drifting in and out like a radio constantly re-tuning itself.   It's hard to tell which bits are the violin and zither he's inserted himself and what's on the field recordings, since the air is often so dense with textures vying for your attention. There's something kind of feverish and delirious about the way the different sections drift in and out in overlapping chunks of sonic clutter and the push and pull of tension and calm that they elicit. If concrete and drones are your thing it's an intriguing listen.
