This CD appears to be limited to 18 numbered copies. 18! Talk about setting realistic targets. On it there’s a single 43-minute piece by Manchester producer Transmission 13. It’s thoughtful, detailed dark electronica whose styles, say the press release, include “ambient, drone and atmos prog”, if that helps.

It’s split into 10 movements whose names and times are laid out on an insert. ‘Data Funk (with Ivan Black)’ that opens the piece is particularly fun, a strange glitchy concoction of cleverly sputtering noise loops that gradually builds up an awkwardly grooving head of steam before we head into the droney expanses of ‘Tangled and Wild Parts 1 and 2’ where he shows off his ability to layer ethereal textures in a slow-humming meditation, and then ‘Punk Wreck, Fans Riot’ lays sensationalist news bulletins about punk rock against steely ambience.

Then there’s a meditative and uplifting ambient passage with Matt Barlow...I can’t very well talk you through the whole thing because that’d be tedious but this is a beautifully constructed piece which goes through a variety of finely honed moods and textures, some awkward, some meditative.
