Here’s the third annual compilation LP from Brighton’s Riots Not Diets collective, and as you would imagine it’s full of lo-fi DIY post-punky stylings informed by the riot grrrl movement and all featuring girls. It’s a nice little selection of bands whose styles vary from the dinky sunshine pop of Frozy, bare-bones post-punk pop from Shopping, fuzzy indie rock from Los Cripis, crunching jangle-pop from of Humousexual and antisocial noise rock from the likes of Bona H.C. and Beauty Pageant.

Despite the stylistic diversity, there’s a steadfastly indie and lo-fi streak that runs through all these recordings and it’s well sequenced so no adjacent songs are too similar to one another. A clattering, warts and all celebration of the grrrls all over the country picking up instruments and getting on with making things themselves on their own terms, and the life-affirming scene that has resulted. Crazy low price too. DIY forever!
