I'm late getting this in so no waffle from me. No waffle at all. This Norwegian duo specialise in some of the lushest, strangest ambient sound-scapes I've had the pleasure to indulge in, certainly one of the most interesting acts on Taylor Deupree's 12k stable. I listen to their last for the label, 'Sval', a great deal. At night of course.
Theirs is a shifting, spectral music that has parallels with both Thomas Koner and Biosphere. Deep chasms of widescreen sound, glacial sonic debris and moments of pure, chilling beauty, deeply unsettling at points, effortlessly serene at others.
As with most sound-art of this type, full headphone immersion is strongly recommended, or some big bloody speakers blaring loudly while you crouch naked in the dark. Um....that's not actually my current state, my intention is not to freak you out. 'Solstov' has a hell of a lot happening you know. Some of it is quite remarkable, merging the abrasive with the sublime, magically processed field recordings and grand cosmic vistas that are almost palpable but in some fashion too amorphous, ever-shifting and dense to fathom, like awe-inspiring dream states that fade on awakening leaving you gasping for a hold on reality.
My only regret is that 'Solstov' is only 48 minutes long. I love Pjusk me.
