The New Pornographers are a twee pop supergroup from Canada that brings together the indie rock stars Neko Case, Dan Bejar (Destroyer) and A.C. Newman under one banner. Their new record, 'Brill Bruisers', is their first since 2010's 'Together', which was stuffed with orchestration and additional players, such as Okkervil River's Will Sheff. 'Brill Bruisers' features in-house production by Newman and bassist John Collin. The record is available through Matador and pre-orders feature a 3D poster with the glasses to boot.

7/10 Penrith Steve Customer review, 27th October 2014

The New Pornographers perform with typical enthusiasm on their 6th album “Brill Bruisers”. The opening title track is sort of Beatles-y whilst “The Champions Of Red Wine”, which is the best track, has a touch of ELO about it. The whole album seems glossier and more tightly produced than previous albums, possibly down to the twinkling electronics used on most songs. “Wide Eyes” has an 80s sheen to it and I’m not sure it suits their style. The production is quite effective on “Dancehall Domine”, however.

Not as good as their previous album “Together”, but then again I’ve had more time to digest that one.
