7/10 Mike 26 June 2014
I already encountered this band not a month ago when they put out a 7" on Box Bedroom Rebels, an EP of dreamy Tame Impala-meets-BJM '60s worshipping psych pop it was. This new single 'Illumination' is a bit bolder and more swaggery, begging comparison to Primal Scream, The Music, BRMC, Kasabian, even Oasis when they went a bit psych-rock.   On the A side 'Illumination' is all cocky loose-hipped swagger and driving krautrock riffing, but on the other side 'Carpe Diem' drops into a dreamy baggy groove soaked in reverb and cheeky little backwards guitar licks that once again recalls The Music, but this time mixed with a particularly sleepy Stone Roses.   I'm not as impressed as I was by their more thoughtful debut EP to be honest, feeling a bit ambivalent about it, but they're undoubtedly a promising band.

Pretty good but like Mike said, their EP was miles better.

The production on this is more hard and will be to some people's taste (fans of USA rock I'd say) but i preferred the swirling sounds and retro warmth on the first record.

Good tunes just need to get the old producer back! 7/10
