Originally recorded for the EMI Nigeria label and produced by legendary producer Odion Iruoje 'Keyboard' was a one-off studio project formed by Brodricks Majuwa and Isaac Digha from circa 1978.

This extremely scarce and obscure record features amongst others Ignace de Souza of the Black Santiagos from the city of Cotonou, Benin and Jonni Wood from the band SJOB movement.

Lilting, laid-back, solid, soul-funk grooves and beautiful horn arrangements with synth effects combine for a unique sound but one that is unmistakably from the sound forge of Odion Iruoje and his two front-line studio engineers Emmanuel Odenusi and Kayode Salami.

8/10 SAMMY 4th January 2015

This had been on my Normans wishlist for ages and with my Father-in-law (thankfully) not doing crap presents like novelty socks or cheap perfume for Christmas he surprisingly whipped this little gem out from under the tree.

I can't say I know anything about this record or the duo behind it (besides the press release above) but I've spent the past few years working my way through the Soundway Records impressive roster and have found a seal of quality amongst the unusual lost records they've unearthed and re-released. This is no exception as these six lengthy Afrobeat tracks are a truly enjoyable funky experience. It is pretty rare that I feel the need to stick a record on again and again but these stylish rhythmic beats and jazzy hooks soundtracked my Christmas day. Much better than an afternoon with Slade and proof that if you believe in your Normans wishlist, behave like a good boy/girl all year round then vinyl dreams can come true.
