8/10 Mike Staff review, 21 August 2014

Suzi Chunk & Groovy Uncle has to be my favourite band name of the week so far, and I'm enjoying the music on this here 7" too. On side A we've got 'Barefoot In The Car Park', which is a lively bit of soul pop which takes its cues from '60s surf-pop and r'n'b, with big vocal harmonies, bright honking sax licks, reverby surf guitar touches and some irresistibly swinging drums courtesy of Bruce Brand. Ambitious, old-fashioned soul-pop that'll put a spring in your step.

Over on side B Suzi is nowhere to be found, with Glenn Prangnell taking the lead (I'm assuming he's "Groovy Uncle" since he's the only person who appears on both sides) on a dreamy bit of folk-rock, little bit CSNY, little bit Beatles, little bit Kinks...very pleasant and thoughtful. There's a melodica solo. Have to admit I'm digging the energetic A side more but they're both so different it's not really fair to compare.

9/10 JP Cooling Customer review, 22nd August 2014

Good music. If it isn't broke, don't fix it. This has been the ethos of many a Medway band over the years (Kent, England). Some call it 'anti progression', sometimes it's punk, sometimes it's 'just' inspired song writing which thirty years ago would have been considered genius. If only we had a 'touched' vocalist to sing these songs. We do. Suzi Chunk is thee best female vocalist in Britain. When it all comes together you get this. Then you buy it.
