The music is like a kind of chirpy Soft Cell on ‘Music Scientist’ whereas ‘My Girl Likes to Buy’ is truly terrible - like Vincent Price trying electro-pop.  The whole premise seems to be a kind of swing-like jazzy electronic music, Joe Jackson making music on early ‘80’s synths with lots of glitterball disco inflections. ‘DMZ Bolero’ at least has the kind of discofied strut of some of Chas Jankel’s experiments in funk.
