I had to stop buying 12"s recently, I like far too much stuff, too many “genres” y’ know. Also, I hardly ever get out to DJ (If that's what you'd have called it) these days. So these dance platters build up and brutally command my life. One of the few people I still get wet about, however, is the German wunderkinder Gunnar Wendel (here double teaming with his mate Mick Someup) No, not a very Teutonic that name is it? Because I made it up that’s why.

This is actually a re-jig of a 2012 track by Kowton, one of the kingpins of Bristol’s ace progressive bass music collective, Livity Sound. KM/MM have made a great tune even greater. Peverelist-style bass moans dropping deep, a relentless snaky maraca-line and then one of those fabulously clunky stomping rhythms set off against some icy synth stabs. What more you want dawg?

Berlin’s Dresvn are even stranger as on random days they like to drop an extra ‘e’ into their already unpronounceable moniker. Just for the sheer hell of it. They have a go at Asusu’s number here and transform it into something resembling watery epic ambient techno. It’s a nice breezy tune that burrows into your head with a metronomic intensity. It is reminiscent of large drops of water plinking into an array of different sized jars, re-assembled, digitized and then interwoven with hazy tripped-out post-Detroit fauna and a gentle stumbling kick drum.As a futuristic downtempo piece it’s quite lovely.
