The law of averages says I’m going to find an album I actually like this week. Y’know, that I might take home and shit? The fact that this is on Captured Tracks and that the opening track sounds something like a Wild Nothing/Real Estate hybrid suggests I may have hit paydirt.

The title track is gindeed orgeous with a lovely faded 80’s dream pop sound. The soundtrack to the 10 year old me looking out the 2nd bedroom window at sun glancing off distant pylons. A brilliant start but the question is - can he keep it up?  ‘Komorebi’ is similarly dreamy with a nice flute motif leading to a piano led take on the dreamy chill-wave sound. The sound is so soft and drifty you’ll feel like you are smothered up in a particularly soft duvet. Wild Nothing is the obvious comparison, perhaps lacking their crystalline guitar figures but this lad wrote the album on the piano so there’s a nice 70’s soft rock thing burbling under the surface. ‘Dwindle’ is another track I really love, mellow piano chords are the soft lemon base to the swirling guitars fluffy meringue.

Very, very nice dreamy music that I think I may well fall in love with.
